Zip-Up Leather Rose Pruning Gloves

👵 Designed with Senior Gardeners in Mind

  • Easier access for stiff or arthritic hands

  • More comfortable during long sessions

  • Practical, frustration-free design

Garden longer. Work smarter. Enjoy the peace that comes with being outside.

STOP STRUGGLING WITH SWEATY GLOVES AND PAINFUL HANDS

Unlike traditional leather rose pruning gloves that require you to force sweaty hands in and out of tight cuffs, these zip-up gloves for gardening open fully so you can easily place your hand inside and zip them closed. Designed for gardeners who struggle with arthritis, sore joints, swollen hands, and those needing protection over a hand brace.

PROTECT YOUR FOREARMS FROM POKES AND SCRATCHES

Extra-long gauntlet thorn thorn resistant gloves help protect hands and forearms while working around roses, blackberry bushes, thorns, vines, and prickly plants. Ideal for pruning, trimming, and clearing thorny branches while keeping your skin covered. The gauntlet portion is not rigid and is comfortable on the forearms.

Designed to help prevent most scratches and pokes while pruning roses and thorny shrubs.

DURABLE LEATHER CONSTRUCTION

Made from high-quality and thorn resistant leather with reinforced protection in high-wear areas, these gloves provide reliable durability for demanding garden work including pruning, trimming, yard cleanup, and heavy-duty gardening tasks.

KEEP YOUR HANDS COOLER AND MAKE YOUR GLOVES LAST LONGER

The zipper allows you to quickly vent heat while working, helping reduce sweat buildup during long gardening sessions. When you're done, unzip and open up the gloves to air them out faster for easier drying and extended glove life.

DESIGNED BY GARDENERS FOR GARDENERS

Built for serious gardeners who spend time working with roses, vines, blackberry bushes, and thorny plants. These long gardening gloves combine comfort, durability, and easy usability for everyday pruning, yard work, landscaping, and gardening. The gloves are not designed for other uses including protection against dog bites.

Gardening should be relaxing — not a difficult or painful struggle with gloves.

Traditional rose pruning gloves can be difficult to put on, especially when you suffer from arthritis, swollen or sweaty hands, or need to wear a hand brace while you garden. That’s why these zip-up leather rose pruning gloves for women or men were designed differently.

Instead of forcing your hand into a tight glove, these heavy duty gardening gloves open with a convenient zipper, allowing you to simply place your hand inside and zip the glove closed for a comfortable fit. When you're finished working, they unzip just as easily for quick removal.

The extra-long gauntlet design helps protect hands and forearms when working with roses, blackberry bushes, vines, and other thorny plants. Durable leather construction helps guard against scratches and pokes while pruning, trimming, or clearing dense garden growth.

Because the gloves unzip, they allow heat to escape during use and for air to circulate, helping keep your hands cooler and more comfortable while you work. As opposed to the old way of sticking newspapers inside of your gloves to help them dry, the zippered design also allows you to open up the gloves to improve drying so that your gloves last longer.

Whether you're pruning roses, pulling weeds, trimming hedges, or clearing thorny branches, these garden gloves provide a practical solution for gardeners who want comfort, durability, and protection without the hassle of traditional gloves.

I am on a battery of blood thinners. My arms stay bloody bruised much of the time for just rubbing up against something with to much pressure. I am using these for everything.

Hi Horace! We are so glad that you are happy with your gloves! Thank you again for your purchase and for taking your time to leave us the review both here and on Facebook, it really means a lot to us! - Jonathan and Hollie

Absolutely the best gloves I've ever had over the decades I've been gardening! They handle my 35+ roses like a champ. And I can pull thistle and burn weed knowing I'm protected. The zipper is heavy duty and I use it more than I had imagined I would. Thanks Ogre for making a great product and for excellent customer service!

Tiffany, thank you so much for taking a chance on us! We are so happy that you love your gloves! - Jonathan and Hollie

Excellent Thorn Protection with Superior Comfort and Long Gauntlets

The leather is supple and comfortable against the skin, yet thick and robust enough to provide reliable protection against sharp thorns and branches. The stitching is clean and smooth, with no uncomfortable bumps or rough spots on the fingers or palms. Although I’ve only used them for a few weekends so far, they already feel built to withstand multiple seasons of heavy use.I’ve mostly relied on shorter work gloves in the past, so I especially appreciate the long gauntlet design. It offers excellent forearm protection, which has been very helpful when clearing overgrown thorny bushes and dense brush around my home — areas where I used to end up scratched and stuck. These are among the most comfortable and flexible gauntlet-style gloves I’ve worn (nearly comparable to my TIG welding gloves), while still providing great dexterity for tasks like operating hedge trimmers, a chainsaw, and feeding debris into a woodchipper. The zip-up closure is a thoughtful feature that makes the gloves quick and easy to put on and take off, especially over a jacket or coat.Overall, these gloves combine thoughtful design, quality materials, and practical functionality, making them a worthwhile for anyone seeking reliable thorn and forearm protection without sacrificing comfort.Update: after a few more weeks of heavy use one of the zippers is opening up below the zipper head, also the gauntlet leather is a bit too soft and now tends to bunch up down by my wrist.

Premium Thorn-Resistant Leather Gardening Gloves with Long Gauntlet – Comfortable and Durable

These pruning garden leather gloves are an outstanding choice for anyone who regularly works with thorny plants. The leather is impressively soft—almost buttery to the touch—yet still thick and durable enough to provide real protection against rose thorns, blackberry bushes, and other prickly plants. They strike a great balance between comfort and toughness, and they feel like they’re built to last through many seasons of use.One of the standout features is the extra-long gauntlet design. It offers excellent protection not just for your hands, but also for your forearms, which is essential when working deep inside dense rose bushes, vines, or overgrown areas. Despite the extended length, the gauntlet remains flexible and comfortable rather than stiff or restrictive. The addition of a long zipper makes it easy to put the gloves on and take them off, while the extra Velcro straps help secure them snugly in place so they don’t shift around during use.The palms are also grippy enough for garden work. The fit is true to size, and the overall comfort is excellent. Even during longer gardening sessions, the gloves remain comfortable and don’t feel bulky or awkward. Another big plus—especially in a hot climate—is the breathability of the leather. Your hands don’t overheat or sweat excessively, which makes a noticeable difference when working outdoors in warm weather.Aesthetically, these gloves also look great. The white and tan leather combination gives them a clean, high-quality appearance that stands out from typical work gloves. My wife absolutely loves them and prefers them over other gardening gloves she’s used before, which says a lot about their comfort and usability.Overall, these are exceptionally well-made, highly functional gardening gloves that deliver excellent protection, comfort, and style. For genuine leather gloves of this quality, they offer great value and are easy to recommend for anyone serious about gardening or yard work.

Awesome Long-Style Gardening Gloves-- GREAT Protection From Thorns! ;o)

Hello there, nice to meet you! ;o)It's not every day I come across an incredible pair gardening gloves that are super comfortable and long-style. The leather used feels so soft, so premium. That said, the gloves are well made, and beautifully stitched of two types of leather, and they FEEL great! We have a ton of rose bushes to maintain on our property, and not to say, a lot of wild blackberries to remove as well. These gauntlet gloves are exactly what I needed to protect both my hands and my forearms from being scratched silly by the thorns! In addition, the gripping is an upgrade from my shorter thicker gloves I've used before this set. Lastly, the 'ringed' zipper works as it should, along with the velcro tabs on the gauntlet portion of the gloves, giving the wearer a nice, snug fit.I've owned other Ogre Outdoor and Garden Supply products, and they are beyond wonderful! The company truly cares about the quality of their products and it shows. In the spirit of honesty, aka as a small reality check:I received a pair that was tagged within as Extra Large, yet the hanging information tag says Large. So, obviously I got an mis-marked pair that is bit long in the fingers, yet fits the palm of my hands... kinda. I could clearly see the quality of workmanship though. Possibly the seller could reach out to me-- and perhaps help me receive the large pair I originally ordered-- that I know will be a perfect fit. I say this kindly. (I'm almost positive the mix up happened at the factory, which does happen from time to time. ;o)Still, what's not to like? ;o)Highly recommended!Give this Ogre Outdoor and Garden Supply Zip-Up Rose Pruning Gloves | Leather Gauntlet Gardening Gloves | Long Forearm Thorn Protection (Large) a try... I don't think you'll regret your purchase. ;o)***********************************************************May Your Spring Be Colorful and Full Of FUN! ;o)Cheerio and Best of Luck in all your endeavors! Hopefully, this review was helpful.

Luxury Meets Practicality — Pruning Gloves That Steal the Spotlight

The Ogre Outdoor & Garden Supply zip‑up rose‑pruning gloves are, quite honestly, the most glorious gardening gloves I’ve ever slipped my hands into — and I’ve worn my fair share while battling my beautiful, vicious bougainvillea. I usually come away from pruning looking like I wrestled a housecat, but these gloves changed the entire experience. From the moment I put them on, I could feel the difference: absolute quality, from the materials to the construction, and a stunning fit and feel that made me want to show them off before I even stepped outside. The white leather is so soft it practically melts in your hands — truly “butter” is the only word for it — and the yellow‑gold suede adds a luxurious touch that makes you feel like gardening royalty. The zippered inner arm is genius, allowing me to wear them comfortably over a long‑sleeved tee, and the evenly spaced Velcro tabs, topped with leather, let me snug the sleeves just right. Yes, there were a few loose threads, but they were tucked inside the zipper and so minor they barely deserved a mention. And then came the moment I stepped outside. I swear, I felt like Wonder Woman gearing up for battle — glamorous, armored, and ready to conquer the thorny beast. I was almost afraid to scratch them, but I’m happy to report that the bougainvillea tried its best and failed. The thorns scraped along the glove, left a few faint marks, and I simply rubbed them out. No damage, no drama, no bloodshed. A miracle. One of the loveliest touches is the glossy, two‑sided card included by the husband‑and‑wife team who makes these gloves. It highlights their commitment to quality and gives care instructions — a small gesture that speaks volumes about the pride they take in their craft. These gloves don’t just protect your arms; they elevate the entire gardening experience. My bougainvillea may catch the neighbors’ eyes, but now… so do my gloves.

Works great, zipper not so useful

From the perspective of the functionality and fit of a leather glove these are fantastic with an outstanding level of quality. The material is very soft and pleasant on the inside and very protective on the outside with a reinforced plam. These also extend a great length up the arm to add more protection for things like rose bushes. The stitching is excellent and the overall construction is impressive. The zipper is what I have a slight issue with as it's just not very useful, it is a metal zipper that just does not move smoothly. The zipper is useful to get your hand in but it's just not practical to use it to remove the gloves because you really need 2 hands to move the zipper in that direction plus the velcro gets in the way. If these had a zipper that moved more smoothly then you may have a chance to do it one handed. You may be able to operate the zipper with one hand but it's a challenge and not practical especially if you have arthritis.

Light and sturdy

Got these for my wife. They fit her great and are lightweight, the leather is tough and thick enough that you can use them for roses with thorns or other sharp objects or prickly yard work. The zip is nice for making it not only easier to take off and on but to do a partial unzip if you want to stay cooler.Another feature of the zipper is that it has little hook and loop tabs on it that help either the zipper to stay zipped or if you want to partially unzip you could use them to hold the glove shut for more air ventilation. They are also very comfortable to wear Long-Term.

Leather thick enough for handing thorny plants but not so thick you lose flexibility

I ordered these gloves two days after I went out to a field behind my house to gingerly cut back some wild blackberry canes. I wasn't wearing gloves at the time and a sharp thorn embedded itself in my thumb knuckle, so I removed it. My knuckle swelled and took two days to heal. In the fall I also pull up a bunch of thistles and have to grab them at the base with my regular garden gloves. When I saw these gloves available in Vine, I jumped and ordered them.I chose medium-sized gloves and they fit well, though the thumb is a little long. The leather is thick enough to protect my hands and forearms from thorns but not so thick that you lose flexibility. They're easy to slip on and off. What I don't understand is the purpose of the zipper. It's easy to zip up but I have to grab the end of the sleeve in my teeth to pull the zipper pull down. The sleeve is wide enough that you can fold it down to reduce the length without engaging the zipper. Perhaps the zipper helps if the gloves are a tight fit and your hands are swollen. But the zipper pull is handy because you can hang the gloves instead of storing them flat. That would allow for more airflow in the gloves.Overall I'm quite happy with these. They fit well, are quite comfortable, and are suitable for working with thorny plants.

High quality leather and good construction

These gloves feel so soft and supple that I almost don't want to get them dirty in the garden. I have now used and worn out two other pairs of leather gauntlet gloves; the Ogre gloves are the best fitting and best feeling pair I have used by far. I appreciate the reinforcement on the thumb, grip area, and three fingers, where my previous gloves failed first. The stitching is flawless, and the zipper is a great additional feature that I never knew I needed. They even included a large pull ring on the zipper so you don't have to fumble.I received medium and the gloves fit true to size, with only a bit of extra material in front of my fingertips. I don't feel like these will pull off my hands over time but should actually fit better as they break in. My only issue is that the gauntlet leather is so flexible that it's sometimes hard to pull the zipper open because the material bunches up. This is actually addressed in the FAQ for the product listing, and I have figured out proper unzipping technique. I actually prefer the soft gauntlets to my previous gloves with stiff gauntlets for the improved comfort. So far, they have repelled rose thorn scratches just as well.

Customer Review
Very well manufactured gardening gloves with long zippered forearm protection. PERFECT!

These Ogre outdoor and garden gloves are so great! These are absolutely the best garden gloves I have ever owned. I have several Ogre products and now trust that anything with their name is high quality and can be relied on. I love that they are a small family business and it is obvious they take great pride in the products they offer. These gloves protect your arms much higher than other garden gloves. We have roses and thorny palms that always cause problems when pruning. No matter how hard you steer clear of the thorns, you always manage to get pricked by ones you didn't see. These Ogre garden gloves protect your arms much higher up so you don't have that problem. They offer a very thick protection against thorns, yet are still easy to move your fingers and use your tools. The zipper works very well and is easy to zip up and down to easily get the gloves on and off. You do have to measure before ordering to make sure you are getting the correct size and the Medium size I ordered fits me perfectly. I could not be happier!I have added a coffee mug to the pictures for size reference.

These gloves are perfect. They fit over my wrist braces and are also tight enough to wear without the braces. I’ve worn them while pruning roses, raspberries, and loganberries. The gloves provide excellent protection against thorns. They’re also very comfortable. The seams are smooth and don’t rub. Very breathable and flexible. No sweaty hands or sore spots even during extended time in the garden. My new favorite pruning gloves!

Lara Meintjes

I wish I could give these gloves ALL THE STARS. I have been telling all of my friends and neighbors about them and I will buy my mom a pair asap. They are just absolutely everything I wanted in a gardening glove: solid fit, reinforced seams, additional padding in the high use/impact areas like the space between my thumb and forefinger, a ring pull zipper to make it easy to get them on and off while still wearing one-- I didn't even think to dream of this feature-- and the zip and velcro fastening! We recently bought a home with twenty years of neglected garden, a quarter acre of brambles and poison ivy and invasive trees, and these gloves have been my best friend. I will order more pairs, I will order them for friends, I will recommend them to strangers as I walk past their homes and notice roses. Why aren't ALL gardening gloves like this? These guys have perfected the object. Also, their customer service is top class.

Thank you so much, Lara! This was so refreshing for us to read and we are so glad that you are happy with your gloves! We truly appreciate your business and all those referrals. We look forward to serving you again in the future!
